4Flexogen is one of the best and I like the smaller diameter

By BenB

I've had 2 hoses: a Flexogen and a ordinary hardware store hose for more than ten years. The ordinary hose had a pinhole leak that I tolerated but the constant kinking and the ugly way it hung on my wall hanger finally made me decide to replace it and now I have 2 Flexogens. One note: I decided to go with the half-inch size because I never need huge volumes of water going through the hose. I like the lighter weight; it is easier to manage than my 5/8 inch one.

3/22/13 UPDATE: Recently I noticed some bulging in the hose and realized the laminations must have separated. However the hose was still not leaking at all, just looked kind of funny and seemed a little more prone to kinking. I cut off the ends and mailed them to Gilmour and after a month with no replacement I was concerned and e-mailed them. They e-mailed right back within an hour apologizing, saying they were out of stock and would ship the new hose ASAP. It arrived by UPS exactly a week later. I've decided to deduct a star for the slow response, maybe it was a fluke, but it seems suspicious that a manufacturer would be out of stock. I think they just lost track of my return and didn't want to admit it.

5Gilmour 10 Series Flexogen Hose

By S. R. Green

I have several fairly expensive more commercial grade 5/8-inch garden hoses of various lengths which I have used for years. They are very durable and flexible, but quite heavy. I am in the process of scrubbing out and washing my gutters on the house and decided I needed a lighter weight and more manuverable hose. So I chose this better quality 1/2" Gilmour hose in 50-foot length to carry up the ladder to the second story of our house. It's much more handy, lightweight, and seems fairly kink resistant compared to my other hoses. It also seems to approach nearly the same water pressure as my big heavy 5/8-inch hoses without all the heavy tugging around. I am very glad that I decided to buy this hose which has made my job much easier and will surely become more of an every-day general-use hose in the future. If you have similar requirements for a water hose, I believe you won't be disappointed buying this particular one.

5Last hose you will have to buy

By Michael Tree

I have four of these, two of them are twenty years old. One of them sits on the south side of the house, so it is bathed in sunlight year round.

The only time I had a problem was when the water pressure was too high. I thought I would have to cut the ends off and send them in for a new hose, which is how their warranty works, but the water heater started leaking, and I found out the water pressure was way too high, so had a pressure valve and new water heater installed and when that was done, the one that was leaking stopped leaking around the part you screw onto the faucet. This pretty much amazed me that it was not the hose going bad after twenty years.

Another thing I like is that it is pretty thick, and when you coil it up, it doesn't fold like those cheap hoses, and it seems less likely to kink because of this. They also have stayed pretty clean, we have a lot of humidity and I have had garden hoses that get covered with mildew, but not these.

I like quality merchandise and these hoses are just that. What else can you buy once and never worry about having to buy again? Not much these days.
